Zack Snyder’s “Twilight of the Gods” Trailer Teases Intense and Bloody Revenge.

After teasing fans and offering brief glimpses earlier this year, Netflix has now unveiled a more detailed look at Zack Snyder’s animated series Twilight of the Gods.

The full trailer reveals the series’ roots in Norse mythology, showcasing a Thor driven by vengeance, quite different from Marvel’s version, and a cunning Loki. The plot of the series revolves around Sigrid (voiced by Sylvia Hoeks), a skilled warrior who rescues King Leif (Stuart Martin) during a battle. Following their marriage, the couple faces Thor’s (Pilou Asbæk) wrath, launching them and a group of crusaders on a relentless, high-stakes quest for revenge. You can watch the trailer below;

Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder’s producing partner and wife, shared with The Hollywood Reporter during a Netflix event in June that the streaming platform granted them full creative control in making Twilight of the Gods. “We pitched them an outline; they gave a few notes but ultimately let us do whatever we wanted. There were no restrictions, no limits,” she explained. She also noted that animation opens up more creative possibilities: “In animation, you can achieve things that would be too costly in live action. You can stylize anything you imagine. It’s a great medium for creativity.”

The voice cast for Twilight of the Gods features Rahul Kohli, Paterson Joseph, Jamie Clayton, Birgitte Hjort Sørensen, Kristofer Hivju, Thea Sofie Loch Næss, John Noble, and Peter Stormare.

The series is produced by Stone Quarry Animation, co-created by Zack Snyder, Jay Oliva, and Eric Carrasco. Zack and Deborah Snyder serve as executive producers alongside Wesley Coller and Oliva. Xilam Animation is behind the animation, with Zack Snyder directing the first and last episodes. Other directors include Oliva, Carrasco, Andrew Tamandl, Tim Divar, and Dave Hartman.

Twilight of the Gods is set to premiere on September 19.
