Reflecting On The Life Lessons Shown In “The Upside” mobilecinemanetwork.com, 27 February 2024 “The Upside” is a 2017 American comedy-drama film directed by Neil Burger and written by Jon Hartmere. It’s actually a remake of the French film The Intouchables from 2011, which was inspired by the real-life stories of Abdel Sallou and Philippe Pozzo di Borgo. The film features a cast of Bryan Cranston, Kevin Hart ,Nicole Kidman,Jahi Di’Allo , Aja Naomi King , Tate Donovan, Golshifteh Farahani, Julianna Margulies, Genevieve Angelson and Pia Mechler. The film tells a story of a paralyzed and depressed billionaire widower Philip Lacasse (Bryan Cranston), who in his quest to find a care taker, forms an unlikely friendship with Dell Scott (Kevin Hart), an unemployed man with a criminal history. Despite their contrasting backgrounds and worldviews, these two individuals develop a bond amidst mistrust and sentimental moments. The plot of the film does well to combine humour and genuine emotion to execute a heart-warming story about the power of human connection and the ability to find hope and inspiration in unexpected places. The chemistry between Kevin Hart and Bryan Cranston is absolutely fantastic. We see their characters learn from each other , Kevin Hart portrays a zesty and raw character which amuses and intrigues his boss very much . He is determined to help his boss regain his will to live life to the fullest and fall in love again despite his disability. Bryan Cranston’s character on the other hand teaches Kevin Hart’s character to aim high and set higher standards for himself despite his bad record. It’s a beautiful reminder of the positive impact we can have on each other’s lives. It’s refreshing to see Kevin Hart take a different role this time , even though he is well known for his signature comedic acting style. He showcases his versatility as an actor where he brings depth and emotion to the character without relying on his comedic signature style of acting. “The Upside,” let me rephrase and expand your sentence to make it longer: “The Upside is definitely a fantastic choice when you’re looking for a way to brighten up a dull day. It’s one of those movies that falls right in the middle, not necessarily bad, but also not exactly mind-blowingly amazing. However, what makes it truly special is how it manages to captivate viewers with its intriguing and storyline laced with humour. It’s the kind of flick that not only entertains but also offers valuable life lessons, emphasizing the importance of treating people with respect, regardless of their circumstances. So, if you’re in the mood for an interesting movie that will both entertain you and leave you with some valuable insights, ‘The Upside’ is definitely worth a watch!
