Marvel’s “Blade” Movie Loses Another Director mobilecinemanetwork.com, 13 June 2024 The “Blade” revival might be starting over from scratch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, due to the loss of another director. Mahershala Ali’s Blade has taken a while to come to pass as The Multiverse Saga continues. The announcement of Ali’s collaboration with the MCU during a surprise appearance at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2019 marked the beginning of the revival. The film’s director has since changed, with the first, Bassam Tariq, leaving in September 2022. The Wrap alleges that Marvel Studios and Blade filmmaker Yann Demange have broken up before the reboot’s production begins, despite the film’s 2025 release date. Their sources said that Demange’s exit “was entirely amicable.” As of the publication of this story, Disney and Marvel Studios had not responded to the Blade report. It’s reasonable to wonder if Blade is still being made at all, given that the film’s director has gone on to other projects. Given that it has been nearly five years since the original announcement, jokes about Blade possibly being cancelled have been around for a long. Marvel has not yet revealed that the reboot is being postponed or canceled completely, as the Blade movie cast is still involved in the project. The release date of November 2025 is still set, but there’s a chance it will be postponed again. Marvel Studios is supposedly currently looking for a new director of Blade to replace Demange. Further sources state that the studio is not trying to rush the project in an effort to prioritize its quality, which could indicate that the creative idea for the movie has not yet been decided upon. It’s unclear whether the current Blade script will be used, but The Wrap reports Eric Pearson—who wrote Marvel’s next Fantastic Four—is now working on the most recent draft. The MCU does not need to give up on its ambitions for Ali if the movie is canceled in the near future. His voice was all that was used during his previous appearance in the MCU, thus it wouldn’t make sense to remove him completely. Blade may always appear in other MCU films and television series; ideally, this would be as part of a Midnight Sons collaboration with other franchise supernatural characters. For the time being, it’s unclear if Marvel Studios will offer any more Blade updates in the upcoming months. Source: Screenrant MOVIE NEWS
