“Army Of The Dead” Sequels Get Disappointing Update mobilecinemanetwork.com, 8 August 20248 August 2024 Regarding the film’s upcoming Netflix release, Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead 2, officially known as “Planet of the Dead”, has received a disappointing update. The 2021 film “Army of the Dead” showed a group of mercenaries as they attempted to carry out a $200 million heist in a Las Vegas infested with zombies. A sequel and further spin-offs were discussed after the Netflix film’s release; one of these, a prequel called “Army of Thieves”, is currently available on the streaming service. Zack and Deborah Snyder gave an official update on the sequel, which will surely disappoint fans of the first movie, during an interview with The Wrap. Following the success of the first movie, Snyder promised several spin-off movies and an animated series that will soon be available on Netflix as part of his ambitious intentions to greatly expand the universe. The Wrap reports that all of those upcoming projects—including the direct follow-up to Army of the Dead, a feature picture named Planet of the Dead—were recently shelved. This was quite unexpected, as the most recent major update (released in March 2023) about the sequel was encouraging. It is important to remember that the report claimed all of those projects were silently canceled; hence, Netflix has not yet provided an update on their current status. The Snyders, however, confirmed that the upcoming films and television series had been canceled while teasing a Halloween-themed attraction with an Army of the Dead theme that will be present at several Six Flags theme parks. The reason behind the cancellation of the Army of the Dead spin-offs was not made clear in The Wrap’s article, so viewers will probably have to wait for an official comment from Netflix before finding out more (assuming one is ever made available).
